At Lantern & Veil, small-batch and made-to-order aren’t trends — they’re part of our foundation.
Many of our core products are blended and prepared in limited quantities, based on demand rather than mass production. This includes:
• Signature Fragrance Mist
• Satin Signature Lotion
• Room & Linen Spray
• Talc Free Body Powder
• Pawlished Paws Canine Collection
Instead of producing thousands — sometimes tens of thousands — of identical units months in advance, we create controlled batches and prepare products closer to the time they ship.
That difference may seem subtle. It isn’t.
Mass Production: Built for Scale
Large-scale fragrance manufacturing is optimized for efficiency and volume. Products are produced far ahead of demand, stored in distribution centers, and shipped globally.
This system works well for consistency at scale — but it prioritizes speed, output, and shelf presence over flexibility and hands-on oversight.
When production is measured in thousands of gallons at a time, individual adjustments aren’t practical. Storage time can vary. Reformulations often happen to streamline cost and sourcing at high volume.
It’s industrial by design.
Small-Batch & Made to Order: Built for Craft
Small-batch production allows for precision.
Alcohol-based fine fragrance mists benefit from proper blending and resting — but they also perform best when they haven’t been sitting in long-term warehouse storage. Preparing products closer to shipment helps preserve the vibrancy of top notes and the clarity of the blend.
Lotions and sprays maintain their intended texture and aromatic balance when created in thoughtful runs rather than bulk cycles.
Even our Pawlished Paws canine products are crafted in attentive batches. Pet care deserves the same level of care and oversight as fine fragrance.
Small-batch and made-to-order allow us to:
• Monitor each blend closely
• Maintain formula integrity
• Preserve brightness and depth in fragrance
• Adjust with precision when needed
• Reduce unnecessary overproduction and excess waste
It’s slower.
It requires more involvement.
It doesn’t scale as easily.
But it allows us to stay connected to what we’re creating.
Why It Matters
When you spray a fragrance, you may not think about batch size.
But you’ll notice when a scent feels balanced. When the opening notes are crisp. When the dry-down unfolds naturally instead of fading flat.
Small-batch fragrance doesn’t shout.
It develops.
And made-to-order ensures what arrives at your door wasn’t simply pulled from long-term storage — it was crafted with intention.
In a world built on automation and acceleration, we choose craft.
Because fragrance should feel personal — not manufactured.
